Introduction
The following is a guide to help facilitate discussion. Feel free to add, subtract, or change questions to fit the conversation, and pray for the Spirit to lead in all things.
OPEN
Think of a time when something happened to you that was so amazing that you couldn’t wait to share that news with someone else. Share with the group what happened and how it made you feel.
HEAD
HEART
HANDS
Who are the people in your circle of influence right now who you know could be encouraged, helped, saved over the good news of Jesus Christ? Begin this week by specifically praying for an opportunity to share that news with them, or connect them to church/community/people who can help.
LIVING WORDS FOR YOUR WEEK
“As for us, we cannot help speaking about
what we have seen and heard”
Acts 4: 20, NIV

HEAD
- Read Luke 2: 8-20 together and share any wisdom, insights, or thoughts from the reading.
- Why do you think God sent the angels to the shepherds over the teachers of the law or some other more influential group?
- If you imagine this scene in your head, what does it look like? Did the angel just appear? Was the angel there and turned on the light? Did the shepherds see it all at once or did it take time to adjust?
- How do you think you would have responded to having the night sky suddenly full of angels praising God?
- Do you think Mary and Joseph expected visitors? What do you think went through their heads when all these stinky shepherds showed up?
HEART
- In this week’s reflections, we talked about how true evangelism happens when a heart is turned toward God and one’s heart is full with the desire to see their family and friends meet Jesus. Share your thoughts on evangelism, especially if they differ with the critique of what can happen when evangelism is reduced to a program.
- What are some ways you and I can continually seek a more clear picture of Jesus so we can be inspired to help introduce others to Him?
- What have you experienced more in the church, a joyful spirit or a somber one? How do you and I lean into practicing more joy at church and at home?
