INTRO
The following is a guide to help facilitate discussion. Feel free to add or subtract or change questions to fit the conversation, and pray for the Spirit to lead in all things.

OPEN
Share a time in your life where you felt incredibly loved. Where were you? What was the context of that event? What made it so special??

HEAD
Read I John 3 together and share any wisdom, insights, or questions in response to the reading.

What is better…to be loved by the world or by God? Which do you desire more?

What does it mean to be a “child of God.” What “hope” comes with that?

What does John mean in verses 6 and 10 when he talks about sin and doing what is right? Are those comforting or condemning words to you?

HEART
Did you feel more like a child of God or a distant relative of God this last week? What can you do to improve your relationship with God this week?

How is the world’s definition of love different from the definition we see here?

How would you like to “love-like Jesus” this week? What is one of the best examples of love-in-action that you’ve seen?

HANDS
In v.18 we’re told to not “love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” What does that type of love look like in your life?

How can we model a love like this in our day-to-day living?

What may need to change so that loving like this can become a reality?

WORDS TO LIVE BY
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”
1 John 3:16 NLT
