INTRO | Missio Dei

Jul 12, 2026

Most of us have heard the word "mission" and felt one of two things: quiet guilt that we're not doing enough of it, or a vague sense that it belongs to other people. The particularly bold. The ones who pack up and move overseas. Either way, mission tends to feel like something outside ordinary life rather than woven into it.

Missio Dei simply means "the Mission of God." The idea at its center is this: the mission doesn't belong to us first. It belongs to God. It has been moving through history since before any of us arrived, before the church existed, before Pentecost, before Bethlehem. God is a sending God. He sent his Son. He sent his Spirit. And in his grace, he invites us into the story he has been telling since the beginning of everything.

These five weeks are not designed to make you feel more obligated. They are designed to make you feel more found and you don't need a passport or particular personality, or a theology degree to be part of this. What you need is what you already have: a life that is somewhere, a neighborhood that is somewhere, relationships that are somewhere. The mission of God is not looking for specialists. It is looking for people willing to show up.

The mission of God is already underway. Welcome to the journey.
